An Energy Performance Certificate will tell you how energy efficient your property is on a scale of A-G. It is very similar to the certificate that can be found on many domestic appliances such as fridges, freezers and microwaves. The most efficient homes (which should have the lowest fuel bills) are in band A with band G an inefficient rating (meaning higher fuel bills).

The Certificate will also tell you, again, on a scale of A-G, about the impact
the home has on the environment ie through carbon dioxide
(CO2) emissions.

The average property in the UK is in bands D-E for both ratings. Along with
the energy and environmental ratings, the Certificate will include
recommendations on ways to improve the home's energy efficiency to save
money and help the environment.

The Energy Savings Trust have estimated that homeowners could save
around £300 a year on fuel bills from implementing the recommendations
set out in the Energy Performance Certificate.

How is an Energy Assessment carried out?

Our fully qualified Domestic Energy Assessor will carry out an energy assessment on your property. This will include information on energy generating features such as heating systems, insulation, wall and roof construction etc. The floor areas in the property will be measured along with information obtained on lighting and type of bulbs used. All the information from the assessment is then uploaded into specially approved software which will generate a SAP rating and charts for Energy Efficiency and Environmental Impact rating CO2 scale.
